Hi...I'm new at this blogging thing.
My name is Angela.
I'm a single mom, I have a beautiful daughter soon to be 18,
A sweet, loving, wonderful boyfriend,
And an adorable little dog.
I'm here for friends, seeking other single mom's & dad's of teens to share experiences, also would like to hear from those of you who like myself have an elderly parent who is starting to need more help.
My mom will turn 80 this April. Two years ago, my then 50 yr. old brother who lived with her and did everything for her, died suddenly while doing yard work. I live about an hour away from her, I go to her house every weekend to do things for her. I would love to have her live near me, but I know that will have to be her decision.
Sometimes I just wish I had someone who is dealing with an aging parent to talk to. Someone who understands.

Dear Angela, Hang in there. Its really hard dealing with your own parents when they are disabled. I never thought that it would be difficult but it is. Mentally and physically. My father who was an alchoholic and verbally abusive my whole childhood got cancer about 4 yrs ago and passed away about 2 yrs ago. He and my mother divorced when we were young and saw him for the holidays but I was never very close to him. Well my older sister was his favorite and she is the motherly type mainly took care of him but I helped out a lot and it put a lot of tension between all of us. I think if you can get help amongst your family and friends, it will help you in so many ways. You may get mentally stressed and not even know it until it just hits you. Just try to remind yourself to keep in check and take time for yourself as well ok? You take care and Im here for you to chat with if you need to! Take care and hang in there...this is a good opportunity to share things with your mother that you never got to. My father allowed me to speak out to him and feel like an adult for the first time and not a scolded child and I think that was the best thing he could've done for me. Blessings to you... janna |
